Born & bred in the small town of Gore, New Zealand, Michaela has drawn since she could hold an item of creative destruction. This led to her completing a Bachelor of Applied Arts in 2013 at the Southern Institute of Technology where she focused on digital art and illustration.
Since then she has been a full time Graphic Designer, in Gore and Melbourne with a short break from designing to live in Japan for a bit.
Michaela has continued to draw throughout, but has in the last year really found her passion for drawing again and spends most nights into the early hours doing so.
She mostly draws black and white detail drawings, in particular flowers and occasionally experiments with other mediums and colour when the mood strikes.

Michaela’s inspiration comes from the symbolism that flowers represent. For most people flowers have significant meanings, for instance they are represented for good times & bad, happiness & sadness, life & death. They can represent people & places, travels & a feeling of home and being able to draw these symbols for not only herself but others to reflect on is what drawing is all about for Michaela.
